Easy vegan burgers made with mushrooms and spices, then baked or fried.
Put the mushrooms in a non-stick pan and cook until starting to brown (if you have a pan which needs oil, add a bit of oil first, and cook the mushrooms in the oil).
Add in the garlic and onion granules and stir through (if using fresh, allow to cook through).
If using nutritional yeast, add this, followed by the black pepper and herbs (& chilli & salt if using). Mix in well and allow to cook for a couple of minutes, then do a taste test and adjust seasonings if required.
Check for liquid content - the mushrooms will release water as they are cooking, and you need the mixture to be free from excess moisture. Add your oat flour a bit at a time and mix in. The mixture should start to come together into a ball. Turn the heat off. Allow to cool slightly.
Divide the mixture into 4 and using your hands, shape into rough patty shapes. Either, place on a baking tray and bake on a medium heat, lightly fry in a shallow pan, or put in an air fryer for 5 minutes until the edges have browned.
Enjoy.
