7 Valentine’s ideas to show someone how much you love them

Valentine’s Ideas

It is the time of year again when everywhere around us there are adverts for chocolates, flowers, perfume and jewellery. If you are in love, particularly a new love, this one day in the year can potentially make or break your relationship. Those in a long term relationship appear to have very differing views. Some people see it as a way for companies to put prices up extortionately for a week or so. Others see it as a way to express your love for another. Some people see it as a day to avoid. Others see it as a day to embrace. Whichever your thoughts, there is no harm in checking out some recipes, whether you use them for Valentines day, Valentines weekend, or any other time of the year!

A few Recipes

If you want to make something for everyone, or have children involved in the cooking, try these delicious shortbreads.

If you are something chocolately, these healthy truffles are easy to customise to your tastes and you can make a few different ones which instantly looks like you made more effort!

If you prefer cake and you have time to bake, then try one of these delicious cakes. Coffee cake is still my favourite, but if citrus is more your thing, this St. Clements cake is also amazing! Prefer a cheesecake? Try this gorgeous chocolate pecan cheesecake.

Do you prefer savoury? Or maybe a bit of both? I love these cheese straws and with a bit of extra effort, you could create mini sausage rolls using my vegetarian wellington recipe.

What do I need?

You can (as with most of my recipes), play around with the ingredients and the decorations to make them suit you and your family.

Have a look at these heart shaped items which I have picked out especially for this weekend. I receive a small commission if you click and purchase through these links (this is at no additional cost to you)!

Sharing

I hope you have a look at some of these recipes and decide to make at least one of them over the weekend! I think I will make some of the chocolate truffles for myself and I may or may not share them! If you do make anything from my website, please let me know! I love seeing your adaptions and interpretations of my recipes and I love to see your photos! Hi Laurena, I just love shortbread (who doesn’t, really?☺️) Probs my favourite kind of biscuit. I assume the icing sugar improves the texture, makes it lighter and crispier? Will defo try it one day. So…that’s how you make the jam centres (I’m a bit slow sometimes hehe).

Hmmm, well Eva, if I had to choose between shortbread and a ginger biscuit…
Yes, icing sugar makes for a lighter crunchier and smoother biscuit (much like adding a bit of cornflour in cakes). Jam centres are great and wait, I think you need to get making stained glass window cookies!!! Start collecting different coloured hard boiled sweets, then we can have a play!
