Two Bean Chilli
This is an easily adaptable recipe which you can customise to your tastes and what you have in the fridge or pantry! I made this to go in a burger (yes, I really did)! as I wanted something different! Next time I’ll have it with a plain burger rather than a Jalapeno burger! I like spice. Just a bit of spice. Not a lot of spice! It was still good, and that’s the thing about recipes like this, you can switch things up, add and takeaway spice to get it just right for you!
Of course, you can eat this chilli however you like!
The Chilli Recipe
I have used a base of onions, garlic, peppers and carrots, added tinned tomatoes and beans (kidney & butter), then thrown in a load of spice! There’s a secret ingredient you might not expect in there too!
Cooking Stages
Have a look at the stages below to visualise how easy a chilli is to make!
What do I need?
You can (as with most of my recipes), probably make this with the equipment you already have at home. However, if you are new to cooking or your kitchen needs a refresh, here are a few useful things for this recipe. I receive a small commission if you click and purchase through these links (this is at no additional cost to you)!
Serving
Go traditional and serve your chilli with rice (or your favourite grain), slather it atop a jacket potato, have it in your buddha bowl, put it in a wrap, scoop it up with tortilla chips… your chilli, your choice!
Storage
This chilli is great for storing and the flavours will develop and intensify with time. Store in the fridge for up to five days or in the freezer for up to three months. If freezing, portion, label and freeze.

Hi Laurena, I like a good chilli, I like it very spicy too (heat as well as aromatics)🌶️🌶️ Speaking of aromatics, is the secret spice something like cinnamon or clove? Did you freeze or chill the mince to form a solid patty? I don’t know when I’ll next make chilli but I like serving it with bulghur wheat or on a good old jacket tato🙂
Ah Eva… cinnamon is lovely in a chilli, but no, it wasn’t that this time! You need to check out the slideshow of photos! 😛 Bulghur wheat is a great option – but I like it better cold – great for a buddha bowl! What are your plans this weekend?
I must’ve missed the secret spice clue in the slideshow lol. I’ll take another look😊
The plan for this weekend is to put up some mosquito netting on the windows, we lead such an exciting life hehe. Saturday evening we plan to go out for meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary (which is actually today!) I hope you had a lovely Eid xx
😋 oh gosh, I’m glad mosquitoes are not that prevalent over here! Ooo, happy anniversary! Where are you going? We are still celebrating Eid😋This Eid is 4 days! 🎉
Duh, you actually state cocoa powder too!😋
Haha… so I do! Have you added it before?
Not cocoa powder but I once added a piece of dark chocolate (I think it was Lindt 85%) probably around 15yrs ago, I had completely forgotten about that secret ingredient! I think we liked it lol
Enjoy the rest of the Eid celebrations🎉🌛🤲🎊
Haha… I was going to do that but I only had rum n raisin or chocolate orange😂 Thank you. Enjoy your anniversary meal out.
