A fabulous Burns Night feast you’ll love.

Haggis!

Ah, Burns Night! That cherished evening dedicated to Scotland’s beloved poet, Robert Burns, and an excuse for hearty feasts and warm company on a cold January night. Traditionally marked by the sound of bagpipes, the address to the haggis, and a wee dram of whisky, Burns Night is a celebration steeped in tradition and flavour, but what if you’re embracing Veganuary?

The good news is that you don’t have to miss out on the magic, or the deliciousness. A vegan Burns Night can be every bit as celebratory, satisfying, and true to the occasion. With a bit of creativity and a touch of Scottish culinary flair, you can reimagine classic dishes like haggis, neeps, and tatties in a way that’s both delicious and compassionate.

Burns Night this year falls on the weekend, so there’s no excuse not to celebrate! On Saturday, January 25th, 2025, honour the spirit of Burns with a feast that’s both hearty and kind. Try your hand at crafting the perfect vegan haggis and enjoy a sweet Scottish-inspired dessert to make your celebration truly memorable.

Serve your Burns Night Feast with all the traditional fanfare, starting with the ceremonial Address to a Haggis. Gather everyone around, recite Burns’ famous ode, and raise a toast with a dram of whisky (or your favourite non-alcoholic alternative). It’s a moment to savour before digging into your hearty, plant-based feast! Slàinte mhath!

Weekend Activity!

This weekend sees the return of the RSPB’s Big Garden Bird Watch. It runs from tomorrow (Friday 24th Jan 2025) to Sunday (26th January 2025). This bird counting activity is fun for all ages and can be completed from anywhere in the UK. If you’re fortunate enough to have a garden, then count from your garden, if not, any space works as long as you record it correctly. Go to a park, to the woods, wrap up warm and count the different species you see. I’m likely going to do mine wrapped up inside with a coffee!
