Spring has Sprung!
Woohoo! Finally Spring is here! Daffodils and narcissi are in full bloom, violets and crocuses are popping up, and pink blossom is adding a welcome burst of colour everywhere. 😀
The allotment has had a ‘bit’ of attention and we’ve even managed to plant several things outside already! Hooray! Early and second early potatoes have been in a while, Jerusalem artichokes, spinach beet, carrots, spring onions, peas, rocket and sorrel too! The chard from last year is still producing colourful leaves and we’ve just picked our first crop of rhubarb! 🙂 Indoors we’ve started aubergines, marrows, red cabbage and parsnips. In the mini greenhouse we have tomatoes, mange tout, cauliflower and broad beans. Still loads to do though and lots more to be planted before next week! At least the warmer weather has started and it’s much easier to get on with work! Oh and that rhubarb! We made a rhubarb and apple crumble and it was SO good! Don’t you just love home grown produce!? 😀
No new recipe today, but a few past posts to have a look at again! Let’s start with houmous as it’s definitely time to make a load and eat it with everything! How about these nut cutlets which are still one of my favourite recipes. Chickpeas are something we eat a lot of as they’re so tasty, packed with protein and quick and easy to prepare – these chickpea wraps are a great go to meal. With picnic weather almost here how about these lovely little spinach pies? or a quick and easy rice salad for when you’re picnicking in the garden! Oh, we couldn’t forget something sweet! Let’s finish with these gorgeous chocolate caramel slices! YumYum!
Happy Spring ?Your chocolate caramel slices are a perfect way to celebrate lol…I’m eating one at the moment (sorry, not vegan though) in a cafe with wifi as we won’t have internet for a while (First world problems?). Hope you’re well x
Thanks Eva. I hope your move went well. Oh my… no internet! ?What about on your mobile?
I must be in a minority of people that don’t have internet access on their phone (or even an iPhone lol). I’m a bit old school with my ipad mini haha. It’s a bit of a long story re the move, I won’t bore you with the details lol☺
At least you can’t get so easily distracted and therefore actually get to spend time with the people you’re with! I do sometimes turn my internet off on my phone when I’m out!
Oh no! What happened with the move? I’m listening – I hope all of your belongings made it over here safely?
Nothing major, just not very interesting lol: living with the in-laws for a couple of months until tenants move out of our home in the summer (mustn’t complain, we’re very lucky of course, but I do like my own space…not easy in a small bungalow with a smoker haha). They don’t have internet so grabbing any wifi, etc, when I can?) Our belongings will be kept in storage until we move back into our home: it shall be fun going through all our stuff we left in the loft too! I think all this has made me want to become a minimalist??Back to the Spring theme, it’s so lovely seeing daffodils, tulips and magnolia trees again. Take care x
Oh gosh! Sounds like chaos! Yes, minimalist is the way to go! Hope you’re settling in as much as is possible!
Loved your recipes 🙂
Thanks. Another week has flown by! I’ll be back checking your recipes out soon!
Lovely, isn’t it just exciting with spring around the corner? It looks like you’ve got quite a lot of veggies growing. How wonderful that must be! Those chocolate caramel slices look amazing!
