What’s in your pantry? A peak inside the LifeDietHealth kitchen!
A photo of some shelves!? That’s not what you usually get here at LifeDietHealth! Today I’m letting you have a sneak in our pantry! I haven’t moved anything or ‘re’moved anything so there might be a couple of items you wouldn’t expect! (blame the boys!) 😛
So let’s have a closer look shelf by shelf!
Is this my favourite shelf? It has one of LifeDietHealth’s most used ingredients (or two 😛 )! Yes, there at the end is the oat store 😀 Admittedly these could probably be in a bigger container as they do tend to get refilled at least once a week – but at least I know they’re fresh! Have you tried these delicious pancakes? They probably get made twice if not three times a week! 😀 Also on this shelf are chickpeas – practically a staple in our house! Have you tried this winter warming soup? or this delicious vegan biryani?
Let’s look at the middle shelf – full of the gluten-free flours and a few tins and other oddments!
How many different flours can you spot? Some of the more unusual flours in the LIfeDietHealth kitchen include tiger-nut flour, cassava flour, millet flour and oat flour (we make our own oat flour by blitzing up oats)! We also have three different maize meals including a white one – great for making the Zimbabwean dish Sadza. For gluten-free baking a mix of flours usually works best – currently we’re testing a mix of oat, rice, cassava and potato! 🙂 There are grains on this shelf too such as millet and quinoa; several different pulses and the standby tins for very quick meals such as a speedy chickpea curry!
What’s on the bottom shelf – hmmm well… here’s where you might find some things which aren’t used too often!
A variety of nuts such as hazelnuts, brazil nuts, cashews, almonds (did you try these?) What else can you spot? Rose water? Orange blossom water (ooo.. I bought something new yesterday – kewra water! Maybe my Bengali friends can teach me how to make some Bengali desserts that I can veganize and make gluten-free 🙂 ) There are also several sweeteners on this shelf (including my choc shot)! LifeDietHealth is slowly moving over to using less sweeteners (I might post about sugar soon)! but of course, used in moderation these are much healthier than refined granulated white sugar 🙂
My questions to YOU!
- Which of these is YOUR favourite product and what do you use it for?
- Which (if any) have you NEVER heard of?
- Do you have a dry ingredient (free-from) which you CAN’T see in our pantry (spices excluded)?
