Fruit Snacks

Fruit is great as it is and any fruit snacks would always be my first choice, especially at this time of year when the berries are ripening in the garden right before your eyes! I have an abundance of strawberries and raspberries which even though I pick constantly seem to reappear hourly! Gooseberries, redcurrants and mulberries are on the way too, and then hopefully I will get some cherries before the birds beat me to it!

Banana & Strawberry snacks (& a gorgeous orange rose)!

That said, and as much as I love freshly picked fruit, sometimes you just need something a bit different! So, have a play and jazz it up! These snacks are great fun to make as well as eat, and this is a great activity for children too!

The Fruit Snack Recipe

Banana, chocolate & sesame! (& a pink lily)!

There is no recipe as such, just a selection of items as you have!

⭐Fruit: Bananas are great, strawberries too, apples would be good…

⭐Centres: Nut butter, jam, tahini, chocolate spread, biscoff spread, cream…

⭐Toppings: coconut, sesame seeds, mixed seeds, sprinkles, cacao nibs…

Sesame, coconut & mixed seeds make great toppings

⭐Assemble:

Cut your slices to your desired thickness (thick or thin) – vary them for different tastes. Pick your spread for the centre and dab in the middle of one slice. Sandwich two slices together (use a cocktail stick if you wish). Sprinkle your topping over. Make several different combinations.

⭐Enjoy!

What do I need?

Although these are a quick & easy fun idea to make your fruit extra special, here are a few things which I thought you might like! I receive a small commission if you click and purchase through these links (this is at no additional cost to you)!

Serving

You could make these ready to serve (or eat), or alternatively make a few examples then set up a self serve bar! Put a selection of jars with spoons (or knives) for each, then use ramekins for the toppings, add a chopping board, spare knives and a selection of fresh fruit. Use the photos on here for inspiration!

Storage

It is best to make these and eat them as soon as possible (especially if using banana), although you can pop them in the fridge for later. You could also freeze them – bananas are great for this! You can them eat them whilst still frozen (or starting to defrost) as an alternative to ice-cream!

Sharing

I’d love to say these are great for sharing, but I made so many variations I had to try them all and ended up eating this whole plateful myself! Let me know what your favourite combinations would be? I love seeing your adaptions and interpretations of my recipes and I really appreciate seeing your photos!
