Fruit Food Fun (A-Z Challenge, Day 6)

Hello! 🙂 It’s day 6 of the A-Z Challenge which finds us on the letter ‘F’ 🙂

F for fruity. F for food. F for fun. Admittedly these were ready to post last week and were supposed to be my ‘B’ post but instead I posted my Free From Hot Cross Buns! That is the only thing about doing this alphabetical challenge! I have loads of things to post but they all seem to be at the beginning of the alphabet… avocado, aubergine, beans and these bananas! These are a quick and easy, fun to make and delicious to eat snack! So simple yet they look great and they are children-friendly too so you can set them making these… and you could even set them a challenge to create patterns or faces! 🙂 Oh, these are dairy free and raw too! 🙂 🙂 🙂

You can of course mix and match your toppings to create the perfect bananas for everyone. Also, feel free to melt any chocolate you have instead of using the recipe below and skip straight to the assembly part.

Gather

Prepare

  1. Gather all of your dipping ingredients and tip onto plates or bowls.
  2. Prepare a greaseproof surface such as a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper.
  3. Cut the unpeeled bananas in half across the middle and immediately brush the cut pieces with lemon juice.
  4. Get a lolly stick, wooden skewer, corn-on-the-cob handles or a teaspoon (handle) and carefully push this into the centre of the banana. Set aside whilst you prepare the chocolate.
  5. Melt the coconut oil and then stir in the cacao until you have a smooth paste. Add the agave syrup and check for sweetness. Alternatively, slowly melt your chocolate over a double boiler or using the microwave (check regularly and stir).
  6. Peel a banana half and dip it in the chocolate mixture aiming to completely cover at least the top part of the banana (you can cover it all if you wish). Brush any uncovered banana with lemon juice.
  7. Decorate your banana half with coconut, sesame, crushed nuts or a mixture of all.
  8. Alternatively to create faces or animals, use almonds for ears, raisin for eyes, an apricot slice for a nose and linseed or coconut for small detail or whiskers (I was unsure about posting these but the children said I had to)!
  9. Lay the completed bananas on the greaseproof paper and repeat with the remaining bananas.
  10. Place in the fridge to set (or in the freezer if you can’t wait)!
  11. Enjoy!
